Rovos Rail - The Pride of Africa

Rovos Rail operates as a family-run South African institution - still owned by Rohan Vos, who began restoring historic rolling stock in the 1980s and built the Pride of Africa into what it is today. The company operates a small number of trains with an extraordinary staff-to-guest ratio, all-inclusive pricing (including fine wines and premium spirits), and an itinerary schedule that spans southern and eastern Africa. The luxury suites and Royal Suites are among the most coveted berths in luxury travel, and demand consistently exceeds the available spaces on the most popular routes. We work with Rovos's reservations team and can advise on the specific routes and date combinations that pair most naturally with a broader African itinerary.

Rocky Mountaineer operates in Canada and the U.S. Southwest, with routes connecting Vancouver, Banff, Jasper, and Calgary in Canada, and - more recently - routes through the American Southwest connecting Moab, Arches, and Bryce Canyon. The GoldLeaf service is the premium option in Canada, while the new Rockies to the Red Rocks routes in the U.S. Southwest have been designed from the ground up as a luxury experience. We combine Rocky Mountaineer journeys with hotel stays in Vancouver, Banff, and Jasper from our preferred partner network, creating multi-week western Canada or western U.S. itineraries that use the train as the visual centerpiece.

Rovos Rail's prime routes - particularly the Dar es Salaam to Cape Town journey and departures timed to coincide with African events - fill similarly quickly. The Rocky Mountaineer's peak summer season (June through September) is best booked eight to ten months ahead. We begin monitoring availability for the trains we recommend as soon as a client expresses interest and place holds on suite allocations before the full booking is confirmed.
Suite Categories & Configuration
Accommodation on luxury trains is organized into suite categories that vary by size, configuration, and, on some trains, dedicated facilities.
